amble diaries #3
we were wrong about how connections unfold
our very first hypothesis (plot twist: we were wrong) was that matching should be effortless.
we loved the idea that you could find someone with a single tap, and that the matching process could happen quietly in the background.
but the tradeoff, as we’ve come to realise, is that the efficiency meant that there wasn’t much motivation to spark conversation. most chats began with a “hi” and fizzled out soon after.
and that really sucked. we wanted to make introductions warmer - to give people a stronger reason to explore the connection.
so we asked ourselves: how do we help two people see something special in each other? maybe it’s an oddly specific habit, a niche interest, or a shared value that runs deep. something real enough to start from.
and that’s what led us to the “discover” feature, one that we hope better encompasses our belief of intentional connections.
Introducing your new “discover” page
the “discover” tab now shows you three curated introductions a day.
these recommendations are generated based on:
match preferences, to make sure we recommend people you’d prefer to chat with
compatibility, from what we’re continuously learning from your answers to prompts
recent activity, so you’re seeing people who are more active
and a touch of serendipity (our “wildcard” profiles are those with strong compatibility ratings, but might not fully fit your match preferences)
each profile comes with an personalised headline that explains why you were introduced. for even more juicy content, we also share a story about them, which is typically a mix of their fun facts and daily thoughts. the hope is that this gives you more doors to open when you start a conversation.

what happens to the current classic queue?
this new “discover” page will replace the current queue system. for those who have received the update but are still in the classic queue, you can leave the queue before 15 nov if you’d like to receive a refund of your 100 aura. we will be terminating the classic queue feature on 15 nov 2025, so say your goodbyes!
making connections intentional
when you see a profile that resonates with you, you can now send a reach request. if the receiver resonates with it, they can accept - and the two of you will begin a 3-day match from there.
this shift means matches on amble will now be far more intentional- with genuine interest from both sides before a chat even begins.
after all, we’ve learned that the best conversations don’t start with “hi.” they start with thoughtful curiosity.
when will you get this update?
we will be gradually enabling this feature to more of you throughout november, and we’d love to hear what you think. share your thoughts with us in the feedback section of the app (under the profile tab) - every note helps us build amble into a space that feels good for you. 💛
for anything else, you can chat with us directly via our instagram DMs.
